To Build Positive Habits, Look For Positive Surroundings. It Always Works!

We are always surrounded by energy. Some are positive, some negative, and some are neutral. It is very easy to absorb these energies from our environment or another being. It is easier to absorb the negative as compared to the positives. It is almost like your brain is ever ready to make you believe that you aren’t good enough and that what you want may not happen. Convincing yourself that you are good enough is a difficult task and even more difficult when you have to keep working on something that doesn’t seem to work at all. But the truth is,

Healthy habits are built in the same way as unhealthy ones – through practice.

Wayne Dyer

Most of everything that we learn or we are is credited to our surroundings. The surroundings we grew up in shape our thinking, habits, and personality to a great extent. Some of these are so deep-rooted that it may be very difficult to let go or replace. However, surroundings keep changing in our lives and we have an option of making the required changes in our surroundings that favor our growth and eradicate anything that pulls us down. There is always hope to unlearn old patterns are we go and grow.

Now the real question is, not everyone is blessed to be in a positive environment, so how do you make positive changes in your surroundings that help you to follow positive habits?
  1. Eat healthily

You are what you eat is a real mantra to be followed. What you eat has a great impact on your brain functions, well-being, and energy levels. It can alter your mood which in turn affects your reactions to situations. Eating healthy and on time makes you feel good from within and helps you think positively and clearly.

  1. Practice mindfulness

One of the biggest mistakes we make is talking, eating, and reacting mindlessly. We must practice mindfulness, we must think before we eat unhealthily or say anything unnecessary. This in general helps in making our surroundings less negative and more peaceful.

Motivation gets you started, but habit is what keeps you going.

  1. Practice Meditation and Gratitude

Directing your energies inwards rather than wasting them on unwanted issues of life is an essential practice that needs to become a habit. Practice gratitude for whatever you have and be humble enough to receive what you truly deserve.

  1. Surround yourself with positive people

It is said that your character is a total of the characters of 5 people whom you spend most of your time with. Your circle decides the energy you absorb and radiate. It will directly show in your personality and work. Choose your circle wisely, and do not be around people you would never want to be like.

  1. Take it lightly

We only get bothered by certain things when we let them take up space in our minds and our lives as well. We must let go of a few things and avoid paying attention to any negative directly indicated towards us. Dodging off negativity is a major way to stay positive.

  1. Regular exercise

We may have heard this a million times but maybe because of how true it is. Being from a healthcare profession, I live by the saying “movement is medicine”. This stands true not only for your physical health but equally for your mental well-being as well. Several studies have proved that regular exercise improves your physical and mental well-being. They help ward off symptoms of depression and anxiety and various other health issues. This in turn also plays a huge role in helping us stay positive.

  1. Surround yourself with positive affirmations

It is a lesser-known but very true fact that if we keep telling our brain something multiple times, it starts believing it. That is the main purpose behind using products like inspirational bookmarks, posters, stickers, etc.

They act as reminders that make sure we remember the purpose of us choosing a path and motivate us to keep walking towards it, no matter how bumpy the road gets. These inspirational products usually contain motivating quotes and views that inspire us to make something out of our lives or simply help in uplifting our moods on a bad day. Keeping such bookmarks in our books or posters and stickers in our room helps us to stay positive even on the worst days.

In all, positive surroundings are very important for an individual to develop positive habits. We may or may not be lucky enough to have a surrounding that is already positive, but we have a choice to make changes in it and ourselves as required.
